Welcome to the Page One Writing Contest. The premise is simple: submit a first page of no more than 1,000 words of a longer piece of writing. Each entry costs $10, and one will be selected to win a grand prize of $200!
This contest will serve as a lead up to our November novel-writing challenge, and give you an opportunity to get the creative juices flowing and maybe even win a prize! Whether you've already got a novel in progress or are just about to start, this contest is for you.
Amanda Parrish Morgan is the author of Stroller (Bloomsbury) which The New Yorker named one of the best books of 2022, noting that “the central strength of the book is not comprehensiveness but the way the stroller, and Morgan's experience of her own strollering years, become an omnidirectional magnet, pulling disparate material into friendly proximity.”
Some of Amanda's writing has appeared in The Atlantic, Wired, The Rumpus, LitHub, Guernica, The Millions, n+1, The American Scholar, The Washington Post and elsewhere.
Amanda lives in Connecticut with her husband and two kids where she teaches at Fairfield University, The University of Chicago's Graham School, and the Westport Writers' Workshop.

The winner of the contest will receive $200 (USD). This prize is subject to grow if we receive a large amount of entries. Additionally, they may elect to have their submission featured on Agora publicly on a dedicated contest winners page.
Despite the number of strong entries I'm sure we'll receive, there will be only one winner selected.
Submissions are now closed! Stay tuned for the winner announcement, and if you participated watch your email inbox.
